Tommie Floyce Watson

Funeral services for Tommie Floyce Watson, 94, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jordan Collard and Hilary Collard officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Watson was born December 30, 1930 in Burke, Texas to the late Tommie Ray and Sudie Mae (Lewis) Watson and passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at home.

Mr. Watson graduated from Central High School, Pollok, Texas. He was then hired by Southern Pacific Railroad as a Communication Specialist and moved to El Paso, Texas. He took a vacation from his job to go home, where at 19 years old he met and married the love of his life, Essie Lorine (Richard) Watson. He transferred with his job to Quemado, Texas and later to Houston, Texas.

In Houston, Texas he attended Southern Bible College. He was active in church as Royal Ranger Leader, and always a Sunday school teacher. He was interested in many occupations and was a licensed barber, locksmith, certified for radio and tv repair, certified for air conditioning repair, programmed DOS computers, beekeeper, and was a self-taught electrician. When time allowed, he turned to hobbies of gardening, quilting, crocheting, knitting, fishing, and teaching first his children and then grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to do the things he loved to do.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Melba Denease and Dale Murray of Hudson; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sue Watson of Houston; granddaughter and husband, Angelia and Cole Lollar of Hudson; granddaughter, Jennifer Watson of Houston; great-granddaughter and husband, Emily and LJ Casper of Hudson; great-grandson, Logan Lollar of Hudson; sister-in-law, Jean Rudd of Hudson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Essie Lorine (Richard) Watson; sisters, Betty Edwards and Fayrine Cox; sisters-in-law, Elcie Duncan and Odell Reihle; and brothers-in-law, Lewis Richard, Earnest Richard, Bud Richard, and Temple Richard.

Pallbearers will be Brent Cox, Jason Morgan, Jeff Edwards, Cole Lollar, LJ Casper, and Drew Rudd.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Bomar and Logan Lollar.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
