Funeral services for Scott Morehead, 64, of Huntington will be held Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn and social distancing be practiced.
Scott was born October 30, 1956 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Patricia “Jackie” (Kirkland) and T.D. “Boots” Morehead, and died Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in a local hospital.
Scott was a lifetime resident of Huntington and a 1975 graduate of Huntington High School. He owned and operated Little Boots Grocery. Scott was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Shawnee Church of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Judy (Williams) Morehead of Huntington; children and spouses, Justin and Megan Morehead of Lufkin, Jade and Jimmy Thompson, Cody and Michelle Scott, all of Huntington, Kim and Jay Choate of Timpson; grandchildren, Blake Fincher, Paige Carroll, Brandon Fincher, Maci Choate, Tori Dement, Grant Choate, Bailey Scott, Isabelle Scott, Malee Scott, Asher Thompson, Sage Thompson, Jeb Thompson, Levi Thompson, and Canaan Thompson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gail and Don Evans of Kingwood, Peri and Mark Page of Huntington; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie and Boots Morehead; son, Will Scott; and sister, Patricia Jo Morehead.
Pallbearers will be Justin Morehead, Cody Scott, Jimmy Thompson, Sloan Page, Kyle Evans, Don Evans, and Mark Page.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Huntington High School Class of 1975 and the Members of the 1974 Class A High School State Basketball Championship Team.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
