With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Robert June Faircloth who left this world to go home to Our Heavenly Father on Father’s Day, June 16, 2024, at the age of 81. Robert resided in Lufkin, Texas with his beloved wife of 58 years, Shirley May Moore Faircloth. The couple were members of Keltys First Baptist Church where Robert enjoyed his Sunday School class and fellowship with friends.
Family meant everything to Robert, who was happiest at home, with his wife by his side. The best times were the holidays spent grilling outside surrounded by family. He was the original Do-It-Yourself-er until recently, when he could no longer keep up his courageous fight with cancer. Stubborn and strong, he never gave in and refused to give up.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, who shared in the happiest of times, and provided unrelenting and exhaustive care during his recent illness; children, Rhonda Faircloth Scholz and husband, Detlef, and Matthew Loren Faircloth and wife, Jamie; grandchildren, Matthew Robert Faircloth, Amanda Kelly Brown and husband, Garrett; great-grandchildren, John Hutson and Preslee Kole Brown; siblings, Lester Doyle Loden and wife, Joyce, Ruthie Dianne Pierce and husband, Mike, and Clovis Ray Loden; sister-in-law, Gail Faircloth; cherished cousins, Linda Kay Henry, Colette Alfred Sikes, Tawna Loden Walden, Dawna Loden Moore; and many more extended family members Robert discovered and kept in touch with as part of his lifelong genealogy research.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, June Edgar and Roberta Etta Lee Faircloth; beloved aunt, Zonna Wray Lee Burkhalter, and uncle, Forrest Edward Lee; siblings, Jeffrey Lee Faircloth, Leona Fae Lloyd and husband, Thomas Coleman, Audrey Dale Loden, Gerald Dewayne Loden, and Deen Francis Loden.
Robert was very proud of his career with Shell Oil Company and the numerous patents that still bear his name. Most importantly, he loved the many friends he made along the way, including his best friend, John Rogers, and childhood best friend, Charles Fleming, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death.
While words cannot describe our loss, Robert would want us to celebrate his life and rejoice in his homecoming and reuniting with his family.
