Richard William "Dick" Moore, Sr.

Funeral services for Richard William “Dick” Moore, Sr., 93, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Max M. Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Moore was born September 11, 1925 in El Dorado, Arkansas to the late Annie Eva (Ford) and Edwin Seth Moore, and died Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Lufkin.

Mr. Moore had resided in Lufkin since 1985. He graduated high school in Vandalia, Illinois and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a Tech Sergeant in Communications. Mr. Moore retired from Exxon Mobil in Houston. He was known as an excellent golfer and Master Golfsmith. He owned Dick’s Sticks and was known worldwide. Mr. Moore was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby (Smelley) Moore of Lufkin; daughter, Vickie Jeffries of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Richard, Jr. and Priscilla Moore of Boerne; stepdaughter, Janie Hunter of Huntington; stepson and daughter-in-law, Mark and Judy Hunter of The Woodlands; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of Vickie and Richard, Jr., Mary Jane (Collett) Moore; and brother, Claude Dale Moore.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Moore’s sons and grandsons.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the services.
