Jose Antonio Escobedo

Mass of Christian Burial for Jose Antonio Escobedo, 88, of Lufkin will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Joby Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Escobedo was born April 23, 1935 in Corralitos, Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico to the late Belen (Ibarra) and Luciano Escobedo, and died Monday, September 11, 2023 in a local hospital.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Maria de La Luz Escobedo; daughters, Elia, Mirsa, Norma, Julie, Belen, Lucy; sons, Rosalio, Baltazar, Jose Uriel; 35 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Alvaro.

Pallbearers will be Jose Uriel Escobedo, Jr., Jose Antonio Escobedo, Gerardo Acevedo, Johnny Lopez, Dorian Bravo, Julian Garcia, Rosalio Escobedo, Jr., Fabian Munoz, and Adrian Escobedo.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
