Funeral services for Joe McWilliams, 89, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mike Curry officiating. Masonic graveside services under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. McWilliams was born August 14, 1935 in Hebbronville, Texas to the late Eunice (Griffin) and Johnny Leon McWilliams, and died Friday, August 16, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. McWilliams had resided in Lufkin for more than 40 years and co-owned LPJ Trucking. He was an avid golfer and a member of Lufkin Country Club and Crown Colony Country Club. Mr. McWilliams was a Master Mason with the Atlanta Masonic Lodge #463 A.F. & A.M. He was a Godly husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. McWilliams was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 70 yrs, Peggy (Terry) McWilliams of Lufkin; children and spouses, Rebecca and Paul Birkholz of Magnolia, Gary and Deanne McWilliams of Kingwood, Larry and Judith McWilliams of Lufkin, Terri and Brian Brown of Huntington, and Karen and Jeff Vinson of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Justin and Jayneen Reeve, Garrett and Chelsea Self, Conner McWilliams, Aubrey McWilliams, Brandon and Megan McWilliams, Heather and Charley Ramsey, Alaina Brookshire, Jeremy and Meghan Williams, Cara Brown, Morgan Brown, Madison and Hunter Fugate, Blake and Amber Brasher, and Dylan Vinson; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Bolin of Sanger; brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Susan McWilliams of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Don McWilliams.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Williams, Blake Brasher, Garrett Self, Justin Reeve, Conner McWilliams, Brandon McWilliams, and Dylan Vinson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning prior to the services.
