Funeral services for Joann S. Cox, 68, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Keith Burnett officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Crockett.       Mrs. Cox was born July 30, 1949 in Crockett, Texas to the late Florence Pauline (Bradford) and Johnny Willie Smith, and died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in a local hospital.       Mrs. Cox had resided in Lufkin and worked in the restaurant business most of her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Cox was an excellent cook and enjoyed doting on her family. She was generous and kind, and would give you the shirt off her back. She never met a stranger and was a friend to all. Mrs. Cox enjoyed word puzzles, games that tested her skills, and reading.       Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Dana Smith of Lufkin and William and Amanda Ashworth of Pollok; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and John Paul Reese of Lufkin, Shayna and Oscar Hernandez, and Heather and Joe Zahaczewski, all of Idaho; grandchildren, Cori Smith, Eric Smith, Todd Massoth, Meagan West, James Hilton, Mason Smith, William Ashworth Jr., Dylan Ashworth, Makala Davis, Haylee Garrison, Dakota Reese, Jasmine Hernandez, Justin Bennett, Colton Bennett, Cody Bennett, Joshua Zahaczewski, and Jacob Zahaczewski; eight great-grandchildren; stepson, Michael Cox and wife Tina of Lufkin; stepdaughter, Lacrecia Tolbert and husband Joey of Lufkin; sister, Doris Charanza of Lufkin; brother, Billy Morrow of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.       She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, George Cox, Jr. in 1996.       Pallbearers will be Mason Smith, James Hilton, Joe Zahaczewski, Oscar Hernandez, Eric Smith, and Todd Massoth.       The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.       Memories and condolences may be added, and live webcasting of the services may be viewed at www.carrowayfuneralhome.com.             Carroway Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors.
