James Bennett

Funeral services for James Bennett, 76, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Poage officiating.  Interment will follow in Wallace Chapel Cemetery with military honors provided by a U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.

Mr. Bennett was born September 18, 1942 in Alba, Wood County, Texas, the son of Essie (Palmer) and Edmon Howard Bennett. Mr. Bennett wewnt to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Friday, December 14, 2018 in Lufkin.

Mr. Bennett was retired from the United States Air Force, retiring as an E-7 First Sergeant following more than 23 years of service. He had lived in Lufkin most of his life. Mr. Bennett enjoyed studying his Bible and loved to read. He also loved his church, Clawson Assembly of God, and their Adult Sunday School class.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Norma Jean Bennett; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Dawn Bennett; daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and John Kendrick; son, Jesse Bennett; grandchildren and spouses, Blake and Sarah, Mindy and Bobby, Jennifer and Brandon, Alex and Susan, Danielle and Shannon, Veronica and Justin, Kellie, Megan and Ryan, Sidney and Kyle, Hannah, Josiah, Ian and Zoey; sixteen great grandchildren; special friends, Don and Letha Wright; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Bennett; two brothers, Roger Dale Bennett and Jerry Don Bennett; and two sisters, Cletha Dickerson and Helen Palmore.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
