Helen Irene Weeks

Memorial services for Helen Irene Weeks, 81, of Hudson will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.  Mrs. Weeks was born July 28, 1935 in Belton, Texas to the late David Ford Stephens and Helen (Miller) Stephens, and died Saturday, June 24, 2017 after an extended illness.      Mrs. Weeks grew up in Houston, Texas and moved to Lufkin her Junior year in high school where she graduated from Lufkin High School. She married Roland Weeks of Hudson October 24, 1953. She and Roland built their home in Hudson where they raised five children. She served on the Hudson City Council and the Angelina County Health District for several years. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She was also a contributor to the Lufkin Daily News for several years, providing articles for the “Hudson News”.  She is survived by four children, Joelyn Weeks of Austin, Suzanne Pittman Weldon, Kathy Campbell and husband Jeff, all of Lufkin, and David Weeks of Hudson; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roland Weeks; youngest son, Stephen Weeks; and her only sibling, Preston Stephens.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Stephen Weeks Memorial Art Scholarship Fund, c/o Stephen F. Austin State University, P.O.
