Clyde Calhoun Wright, Jr.

Funeral services for Clyde Calhoun Wright, Jr., 84, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Denman Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Jacob Fitzgerald, Brother Charles M. Roberts, and Brother Don Scrivener officiating. Private family graveside services will follow.

Mr. Wright was born May 27, 1940, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Clyde Calhoun Wright, Sr. and Exer (Traweek) Wright, and died Thursday, June 6, 2024, in a local hospice facility.

Mr. Wright was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division and retired from TXU Communications following 27 years of employment. Mr. Wright was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Judy (Perkins) Wright of Lufkin; son, David Wright of Round Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberley (Wright) and Jim Sharp of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Emily Wright of Denton; grandchildren, Zachary Dillahunty, Jeremiah Sharp, Caleb Sharp, Addison Wright, and Avery Wright; sister-in-law, Janet Wright of Bellingham, Washington; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Wright; and sister, Irene McChesney.

Pallbearers will be David Wright, Jason Wright, Caleb Sharp, Jim Sharp, Kaywood Loving, Michael Dias, Jesse Guerrero, and Nolberto Luna.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Donor Development Office, 815 Market Street, Galveston, Texas 77550, or Denman Avenue Baptist Church Missions, P.O. Box 1351, Lufkin, Texas 75902.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
