Marie Lynch Carnes

Marie Carnes went peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday morning, June 29, 2015, surrounded by loved ones. She was born August 26, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Dr. L.D. and Oleta Lynch.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Henderson Chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Allen Parlor.

Marie was a spunky, devoted and loving wife, mother and Nannie. She loved Jesus Christ, her husband, family and friends dearly. She worked together with her husband, Mack, in their auction business for many years, and she also volunteered with several charitable organizations including the Mosaic Center, numerous church Mission Trips, and was an active and passionate member of FUMC Musselwhite Sunday School class. She also loved playing in the Hand Bell Choir, traveling with friends, and working with plants on her beautiful back porch.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Mack Carnes; children and their spouses, Brigettee and Trey Henderson of Lufkin, Lisa and Kevin Grimes of La Grange, Coty and Kim Carnes of Bullard; her greatest joy, her grandchildren, Hall and Rebecca Henderson, Hudson and Laney Henderson, Laken Grimes, Caleb Grimes, Marley Grimes, Caitlyn Carnes and Kinsie Carnes; and especially her only great-grandson, George Henderson V.; sister, Winifred Breckel of Longview; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Patricia Lynch of North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Douglas Lynch and Waldo Lynch; and sister, Martha Ellen Highnote.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Bonnie Denmon for her loving friendship and devoted and compassionate care for many years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Musselwhite Sunday School Class in care of the First United Methodist Church, 805 East Denman Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75901, or to a charity of your choice.
