Memorial services for Terry Dwain Lamon, 61, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jay Thornton officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Mr. Lamon was born June 3, 1953 in Lufkin, Texas to Harvey Dee Lamon and Betty Jean (Myers) Lamon, and died Sunday, January 25, 2015 in a Houston hospital. Mr. Lamon had resided in Colmesneil for 17 years. He had been employed by Martin Dies Jr. State Park as an office administrator for 13 years. He was an alumnus of SFA University. He was fondly called Coconut Willie or Poppa T. Terry loved living on the Neches River, music, spending time with friends and a healthy political debate. Survivors include his parents, Betty and Harvey Lamon of Lufkin; brothers, Jerry Lamon of Lufkin and Mark Lamon and wife Jayne Sandstrom of Slidell, Louisiana; sisters, Robin Noel and husband Chuck of Austin, Rebecca Lamon, and Kelly Sumrall and husband Larry, all of Lufkin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a special uncle, Willard Myers AKA “Coconut Willie”. Special Thanks to friends Cheryl and David Calhoun; to the staff at MD Anderson’s Acute Palliative Care Unit who made his final days as comfortable as possible; and to the employees of Texas Parks and Wildlife, he thought of you all as family.
