Funeral services for Charles Lamar Alexander, 70, of Lufkin will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jimmy Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery. Mr. Alexander was born March 12, 1944 in Shelbyville to James H. Alexander and Annie B. (Wilburn) Alexander and died January 6, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Alexander resided in Lufkin most of his life. He was the owner of A&H Contractors for more than 20 years. He had served in the U. S. Navy. He enjoyed raising hay and cows, collecting antique vehicles, working on equipment, fishing and taking people out to eat. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Martha (Williams) Alexander of Lufkin; daughter and husband, Paula and Greg Korn of Huntington; granddaughters and their husbands, Jessica and Joshua Senn and Cassidy and Blaze Miller, and granddaughter Grace Korn, all of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Brenden and Camden Senn of Huntington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Hershel Shoemaker of Lufkin and Judy and Robert Nelson of Irving; sister, Kathy Griffin of Irving; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Charles “Charley” Alexander and a brother, Jesse Alexander. Pallbearers will be Wade Murphy, Travis Phillips, Buster Matchett, Tyler Wenzel, Mike Windsor and Brad Rash. Honorary pallbearers will be men of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Lufkin High School Class of 1962. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 4303 FM 842, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
