William "Bill" Edward Mcfarland

August 23, 1932 — November 25, 2014

Funeral services for William “Bill” Edward McFarland, 82, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Frank Moore of Spring and Brother David Valentine of Huntsville officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. McFarland was born August 23, 1932 in West Monroe, Louisiana to William Earl McFarland and Martha Avann (Luttrell) McFarland and went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 following a long illness. Mr. McFarland died in a local hospital. He is a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was formerly employed by Brown & Root, Inc. (KBR) for many years as a craftsman painter and supervisor. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is a long-time member of Redland Baptist Church and was a deacon.

Mr. McFarland had resided in Lufkin for 27 years.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Ida (Cole) McFarland of Lufkin; daughter, Donna Rone of Houston, son, Mike McFarland and wife, Genetta of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth Shetz and husband, Fred of Alvin; 7 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bailey Schilling and Grayson Farmer; a sister, Wanda McFarland of Pasadena; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Lisa and Keith Jones.

Pallbearers will be Sean McElhaney, Shamir Harris, Matt Harris, Dale Harris, Justin Morehead, Rusty Schilling and Keith Jones.
Memorial contributions may be made to Redland Baptist Church, 234 Redland Church Road, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
