Janice Onita Thompson James

Funeral services for Janice Onita Thompson James, 81, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Jim McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the Simpson Cemetery.

Mrs. James was born November 17, 1932 in Angelina County, Texas to Robert Lee “Bob” and Laura Ethel (Choate) Thompson, and died Saturday, October 25, 2014 in a Houston hospital.

Mrs. James grew up in Wells and had resided in Lufkin for 63 years. She loved animals and loved to hunt. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. James was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Wayne and Martha James of Hudson and Donald and Laurie’L James of Santa Fe; daughter-in-law, Kay James Dunn; grandchildren and spouses, Lindsey and Chris Baxter, Jonathan and Becca James, Kimberly James, Lacie Ross, Melissa James, Skylar and Regina Schoen, and Raven Schoen; great-grandchildren, Clayton, Cody, Caydee, Brooklyn, Brayden and Brantley; brother and sister-in-law, Marshall Ray and Willie Thompson of Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John D. James; son, Bobby Don James; two sisters; and four brothers.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Havard, Lee Thompson, Bubba McKinney, Elton Ray James, Nathan Lynn Thompson and Gilbert Allen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan James, Chris Baxter, Bobby Thompson, Pete Thompson, Mike McKinney, Darrell McKinney, Don Dillard, Stephen Stockman and Skylar Schoen.

The family extends special thanks to Faye Elliott for her love and care for many years.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
