Evelyn Tims

Funeral services for Evelyn Tims, 96, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ford Adkins and her grandson, Greg Russell, officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Tims was born September 20, 1917 in Brenham, Texas to Thomas Lee and Buna Vesta (Lilley) Lambert, and died Thursday, July 3, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Tims resided in Lufkin most of her life. She owned and operated Evelyn’s Beauty Shop for 65 years, until the age of 85. She loved being a hairdresser. Mrs. Tims enjoyed cooking and spending time with family. She had been a member of Keltys First Baptist Church since 1948 and taught the Faith Sunday school class for 35 years.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Delores Russell and LaNell and Carl Ballard, all of Lufkin; grandsons and their wives, Mike and Janet Russell, Greg and Jody Russell, and Mark and Angela Russell, all of Lufkin; granddaughter, Greta Still of Lufkin; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd Lambert of Diboll and Donald Lambert of Livingston; sisters, Bettie McNair of Lufkin and Dottie Hensarling of Woodville; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, J.C. Murphy and Hugh Tims; and brother, Chester Lambert, killed November 22, 1944 in World War II.

Pallbearers will be Mike Russell, Mark Russell, Justin Russell, Dakota Russell, Jake Russell, Rusty Still, Rhett Still and Roy Westbrook.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
