Grace Alice Pryor Wilson

Graveside services for Grace Alice Pryor Wilson, 92, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Russell Cemetery near Rusk in Cherokee County with Dr. Andy Pittman officiating.

Mrs. Wilson was born March 8, 1921, in Rusk, Texas, to the late Annie Virginia (Sutton) and James Thomas Pryor. She died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at her residence in Lufkin.

Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and sister. She graduated from Rusk High School in 1938. During World War II, she worked with the USO, and then worked for Hannah Insurance in the 1940’s before she got married. Mrs. Wilson studied Art at Angelina College and was an outstanding drawing and watercolor artist. She loved animals and flowers. She had been active in the PTA, and a member of the William N. Glenn Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a longtime member of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church. Mrs. Wilson was a great cook, and she was very proud of her Cherokee heritage. She had lived in Lufkin for the past 64 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Grace Ann Wilson of Lufkin; sons, Jeff Walton Wilson of Dallas and John Nolan Wilson of Pollok; sister, Katherine Lighthouse of San Marcus; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jeff Nolan Wilson; brother, J.T. Pryor II.; and sister, Mary Cox.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Kurth, Jr., Alan Youngblood, Greg Sanches, Kevin Adams, Alan Martin, Marvin Carr, Rev. Chester Robinson, and John C. Williams III.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
