Funeral services for Grover Kenneth Birdsong, 74, of Pollok will be held Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mike Due and Reverend Phillip Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Birdsong was born July 20, 1937 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Burnice (Williams) and Grover Cleveland Birdsong. He died Sunday, September 25, 2011 in a Lufkin hospice facility.

Mr. Birdsong was a retired service manager for the Rodeo Dodge dealership in Dallas, and had lived in Pollok most of his life. He was an avid fisherman, and also loved to play golf. Most of all, he loved his family. Mr. Birdsong was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Maurine (Jo) Birdsong of Pollok; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Jay Coyle of Plano; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Brooke Birdsong of Rowlett; grandchildren, Erin Kruger of Garland, Jacob Kruger of Plano, Maddie Birdsong, Kailee Birdsong, Jackson Birdsong and Stella Birdsong, all of Rowlett; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jannette and John O'Quinn of Pollok and Charlene and Ken McGee of Lufkin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Birdsong was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Bonner; nephew, Keith McGee; and special niece, Kelli May.

Pallbearers will be Jason White, Koyte Smith, Ron McGee, Jacky Clark, Seth Basham and Andrew Clary.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Evans, Clayton Smith and Ken McGee.

The family extended a special thanks to the staff of Hospice in the Pines.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home.
