Funeral services for Frank Grimes, 77, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mardy Guidry officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mr. Grimes was born September 11, 1934 in Lufkin, Texas to Alma (Sallas) and Rayburn Frank Grimes, Sr., and died Sunday, February 19, 2012 in a Tyler hospital.
Mr. Grimes was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and retired from Lufkin Industries following 30 years of service. He also owned and operated the Grimes Blueberry Farm and was a member of the Texas Blueberry Marketing Association. Mr. Grimes was a member of the Luf-To-Go Good Sam RV Club, and served as Assistant State Director for the Northeast and East Texas areas. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Grimes of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Sunny Grimes of Alvin and David and Sharon Grimes of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Deann and Craig Jasper of Lufkin; grandchildren, Derek Grimes of Lufkin, Megan Jasper of Farmers Branch, Curtis Jasper of Lufkin and Tara Kirby of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elvis and Peggy Grimes of Central and Norman and Sue Grimes of Cedar Park; uncles, Nelson Grimes and Grady Grimes; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Grimes, Tommy Grimes, Derek Grimes, Curtis Jasper, Craig Jasper and Marcelo Rosario.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Luf-To-Go Good Sam RV Club.
