Donney Morris

Funeral services for Donney ""Don"" Morris, 78, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Denman Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Charles M. Roberts and Brother Henry Mills officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Morris was born November 1, 1933 in Granite County, Oklahoma to Firzell Fant ""Hap"" and Georgia Mae (Tucker) Morris, and went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, May 26, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mr. Morris graduated from Capitan High School in Capitan, New Mexico and from New Mexico Western College in Silver City, New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Morris was a teacher in Reserve and Roswell, New Mexico, and was employed with Exxon and retired after 25 years of service. He then worked for Stubbs Petroleum Company in Livingston, Texas for 15 years and had resided in Lufkin since 1976. Mr. Morris was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church and the Bible Survey Sunday school class.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Morris of Lufkin; daughter, Tasha Marlow of Roswell, New Mexico; son and daughter-in-law, Clinton and Brenda Morris of League City; grandson, Josh Kimmey of Denver, Colorado; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Jimmy Pierce of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law, Kenney and Jeanie Morris of Grand Junction, Colorado; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Randy Arnold, David Burke, Melvin Hendry, Tom Johnson, Ken Kelly and Don Seelbach.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
