Womack "Punk" Oliver

Funeral services for Womack “Punk” Oliver, 90, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Burl McBride III and Brother James Forrest officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Rocky Springs/Old Center Cemetery.

Mr. Oliver was born June 27, 1927 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Jewel (Womack) and Frank Oliver, and passed from this life Thursday, April 19, 2018, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers.

Mr. Oliver was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed with WM Cameron for 18 years. He also worked in the construction field until later forming the company Oliver & Son, Inc. in 1978 with his son Billy W. Oliver. He retired in 1990. Mr. Oliver was a hunter and fisherman, raised a big garden every year, and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren playing sports. He loved camping and having fish fries, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Martha Oliver Powers of Lufkin; son, Billy Oliver and wife Malinda “Minna” of Lufkin; grandchildren, Adrian Powers Fountain and husband Kyle, Jordan W. Oliver and girlfriend Collyn McClendon, Aaron T. Oliver and wife Ashley, Quentin Walker and wife Minnie; great-grandchildren, Graci Fountain, Bri Fountain, Maddisyn Fountain, Kullen Fountain, Kyllie Walker, and Tripp McClendon; sister, Carolyn Fitts of San Augustine; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Pike, Mary Oliver, both of Lufkin, Frances Case of Houston, and Eula Lambright of Angleton; loving friends, Chelmar and Danny Read; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille (Case) Oliver; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Burl Goodwin, Opal and Vernice “Rip” Busselle; and brothers and sister-in-law, R.L. Oliver, Hoy and Ruby Oliver, Coy Oliver, and Frank Randall Oliver.

Pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Oliver, Jordan Oliver, Aaron Oliver, Kyle Fountain, Kullen Fountain, and Quentin Walker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Read, Dale Bray, and Tom Brown.

The family extends special thanks to Kevin, Jared, Lyndsey, Carlita, Peggy and Lauren, as well as the entire staff of Hospice in the Pines for their loving care.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
