Winda Donell Kendrick Stringer

August 19, 1948 — February 20, 2021

Funeral services for Winda Donell Kendrick Stringer, 72, of Lumberton will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wayne Stringer and Brother Trey Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Nogalus Prairie.

Winda Donell Kendrick Stringer fulfilled her earthly duties and entered the gates of heaven Saturday, February 20, 2021 while surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Joe Mayford Stringer. Together they withstood the test of time and were happily married for 54 years.

Born in Groveton, Texas, she was the daughter of Wilfred Singleton “Snooks” Kendrick and Donnie Lee (McMullen) Kendrick. Winda attended Apple Springs High School where she graduated in 1966. She worked retail for several years but devoted most of her life to caring for her family.

Winda was a devout Christian and conveyed her faith in God. She was a member of Promise Land Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, talking on the phone, traveling and listening to gospel hymns. Winda, aka as “The Mom of Cracker Barrel” will be remembered for her spunk and playful demeanor. Her zest for life was contagious and the love she showed was felt by those closest to her. Her greatest pride were her children and grandchildren. She doted on them and would brag to all who would listen. Winda often expressed her love by singing “I love you, you love me, we’re a happy family” to her babies. To know Winda was to love her.

Left to honor her memory is her husband, Joe Mayford Stringer; son, Joseph Scott Stringer of Austin, Texas; daughters, Kimberly Stringer-Eaves and husband Ronnie of Lumberton, Texas, Dedra Jo Moore and husband Ryan of Lufkin, Texas; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Kathy Smith, Betty Phillips and Laverne Nappier; brother, Wilfred Stanley “Bo” Kendrick; and a host of extended family, friends and loved ones.

Winda was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bobby Kendrick and Ray Kendrick; and sister, Marilyn “Tene” Kendrick.

Pallbearers will be Scott Stringer, Dylan Stringer, Ryan Moore, Ronnie Eaves, Bobby Kendrick, Bryan Phillips, Brad Stringer, Buster Stringer, and Lee Kendrick.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
