Graveside services for Willyne Atkinson Gray, 95, of Chireno will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lower Chireno Cemetery with Reverend H. Ferrar Bentley officiating.
Mrs. Gray was born June 2, 1923 in Chireno, Texas to the late Ganelle (Pack) and Willie Jacob Atkinson, and died Monday, October 29, 2018 in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Gray was a lifelong resident of Chireno. She was a full-time homemaker who was devoted to and lovingly cared for her two special needs children at home for greater than 50 years. Mrs. Gray was a member of Daughter of the Republic of Texas and served as secretary of the local chapter for many years. Mrs. Gray was of the Baptist faith and attended women’s bible study at Chireno United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Busbee and Gerrie Gray, both of Lufkin; grandson, Mark Busbee and wife Cathy of Lufkin; great-granddaughter, Brooke Busbee of Nacogdoches; great-grandson, Mason Busbee of Nacogdoches; sister-in-law, Laurine Nichols; niece, Joyce Shoubrouek; nephews, David McConkey and John McConkey; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Estill B. Gray; son, Bill Gray; and son-in-law, Lynn Busbee.
