William Henry Mettlen

Graveside services for William Henry Mettlen, 86, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, January 16, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. in the Berry Cemetery with Brother Wayne Roberson, Brother Ron Meadows and Brother Jacob Fitzgerald officiating.  Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at Berry Cemetery prior to the service.

Mr. Mettlen was born June 3, 1936, in Wells, Texas, to the late Bessie (York) and Jesse James Mettlen.  He died Saturday, January 14, 2023 in Lufkin.

William married the love of his life, Nadine Newland, in 1953, spending the next 65 years together, raising two sons and one daughter.

After the passing of his beloved wife, Nadine in 2015, William married Betty Forrest in 2018, until his death.

Survivors include his son, Robert Mettlen and wife Sandra; daughter, Frieda Woods and husband Terry; son, James Mettlen and wife Tonja; grandson, Matthew Mettlen and wife Jennifer; granddaughter, Brittany Dickey and husband Aaron; granddaughter, Brianna Hulshouser and husband Zach; granddaughter, Ansley Sittler and husband Tom; two great granddaughters; and four great grandsons.
