William Carson Mcgee

Memorial services for William Carson McGee, 86, of Zavalla will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Shawnee Church of JESUS CHRIST Family Center, six miles south of Huntington on Highway 69. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. McGee was born September 23, 1936 in San Augustine County, Texas to Aliene (Walker) McGee and Dess Pat McGee and passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 in Zavalla.

William proudly served in the United States Army for 11 years, serving in both Germany and Korea. He was an avid mechanic and retired from the City of Lufkin as #3 Maintenance Operator at the Water Treatment Plant. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and gaming on his computer. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

William is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane (Long) McGee; children, Barbie McGee, Brenda and David Cortez, Sr., Becky and Stewart Husband; grandchildren, Brandon McGee, Lorri McGee, David, Jr. and Brie Cortez and great-grandson Nathaniel, Susan Cortez, Jonathan and Jenna Cortez, Austin Husband, Anna Husband, and Adam Husband; sister, Martha and Gary Holcomb; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his infant son; parents, Dess Pat McGee and Barbara Aliene (Walker) McGee; brother, Pat McGee; and sisters, Agnes Forman, Johnnie Sheffield, and Billie Gay.
