A visitation for William Jefferson Fondren, 78, of Bronson will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home Lufkin. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home, with a private burial of cremains at a later date at Gann Cemetery.
Mr. Fondren was born April 23, 1947 in Ruston, Louisiana to the late Doris Evelyn (Hill) and Damus Dudley “Jack” Fondren, and died Sunday, August 17, 2025 at his residence.
Mr. Fondren was an avid fisherman and hunter, leading fishing trips as a guide for over 35 years. He loved to travel and had been to every state, as well as Mexico and Canada, either for leisure or while employed as a truck driver. Mr. Fondren was the biggest “B.S. King” of all time and was loved for it. It made him a beloved storyteller. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Merle (Fisher) Fondren of Bronson; children, Tanya Whitehead and Mike of Lufkin, Aundria “AK” Barrett of Bronson, Jamie Goodson and wife Maggie of Lufkin, Billy Fondren and wife Crystal of Pollok, and Stephanie Stroud of Lufkin; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Ann Lieberman.
Honorary pallbearers are Zachary Davis, Randall “Ty” Barrett, Rayce Barrett, River Barrett, and James Goodson II.
