Wendell Royce Ayers

Wendell Royce Ayers, 56, of Huntington, Texas died Friday, December 12, 2025 in Welsh, Louisiana from injuries sustained in an accident. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Wendell was born November 9, 1969 in Durant, Oklahoma to the late Nancy May (Wagstaff) and Wendell Richard Ayers.

Wendell was an outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and traveling. He also enjoyed cooking and had a passion for collecting Chevys.

Survivors include his wife, Heidi Ayers; children, Richard Ayers, Amanda Sharp, Kimberly Mitchell, Jake Vanderhaak, Alyssia Gonzalez, Emmalys Gonzalez, Blake Wood, Levi Wood; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Sharlene Ayers, Debora Silva, nephew, Jeremy Ayers; nieces, Samantha Sanchez, Sarah Lewis; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wendell Richard Ayers; mother and stepfather, Nancy May (Wagstaff) and Glendon Phillips; and sons, Johnny Fagg and Josh Winkler.
