W.D. Baker

A memorial visitation for W.D. Baker, 93, of Huntington will be held Friday, August 14, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home in Huntington. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home and services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Baker was born October 14, 1932 in Trinidad, Texas to the late Mattie (Gregory) and Willie Dugan Baker, and died Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at his residence. He resided in Huntington most of his life.

Mr. Baker served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a man of faith, a loving son, and a great father. Mr. Baker was a teacher, cattleman, and farmer. He loved to hunt and fish and process meat for others. He was a man of many talents. He built the home that that is still lived in today. He lived his life for God and shared his knowledge and assistance to anyone in need.

Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Cartwright and husband James, and Dena Perkins and husband Rory; grandchildren, Dustin Golden, Alyssa Tant, Jacob Cartwright and wife Taylor, Dylan Cartwright and wife Brooke, Jace Cartwright, and Kayleen Laird and husband Randy; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Edna Merle Baker.
