Wayne Omerle McMullen

March 5, 1940 — May 2, 2025

Mr. McMullen was born March 5, 1940 in Centralia, Texas to the late Lydia (Eddington) and Wade McMullen, and died Friday, May 2, 2025 at his residence.

Wayne Omerle McMullen, also known as “Daddy” or “Pa”, was known for being hardworking, determined and tough. He would be up by daylight and be home after dark. He devoted his life to taking care of his family. He was a God fearing man with strong values. He took pride in what he was able to accomplish in his lifetime. He was proud to be a part of Lufkin Industries as a pattern maker and valued the friendships he made there. He was the perfect man to hold together such a big family. Truly an incredible man, father, wonderful grandpa and the most amazing great-grandpa . The impact he left in our families was more than he knew. His love was quiet but powerful. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was present when you needed him. Even in his last days, he made sure you had eaten before he took a bite. He enjoyed his days in the pasture, working cows or even fixing fences. The past few years he wouldn’t go anywhere without his loyal companion, Gus. He was the last of his siblings. He kept things from falling apart when his wife Linda passed. He stayed with us long enough to make sure he left his family with a strong foundation and we take comfort in knowing that he is with his family in heaven now telling them all about what he got to do and see. He will be missed, but greater than his absence is the impact he left in each of our hearts.

Survivors include his sons, Carl Wayne “C.W.” McMullen, Lee McMullen, Chad McMullen and wife Rene; daughters, Pam Troutman, Misty McMullen; grandchildren, Carlee Hazelton, Scott McMullen, Lindsey Suggs, Conner Nabours, Anthony McMullen, Wade McMullen, Ryan Barrett, Blake McMullen, Kelby Garcia, Stephanie Tullos, Laura Conway; numerous great-grandchildren; special sisters-in-law, Audrey McMullen, Bobbie McMullen; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
