Wanda Lee (Smithhart) Puckett

Visitation for Wanda Lee (Smithhart) Puckett, 69, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be at Gann Cemetery.

Mrs. Puckett was born March 30, 1957 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Ada Lee (Goodman) and James Smithhart, Jr., and died Sunday, August 16, 2026 in a Conroe hospital. She worked as the Superintendent’s secretary at Central ISD for 20 years.

Mrs. Puckett always had the purest of hearts and was the eternal optimist. She loved her family and friends with every ounce of her being, and there was not a single thing that she wouldn’t do for them. She was loyal, sometimes to a fault, for always looking for the good in everyone. Her husband, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren consumed her life, and she loved it.

Wanda loved the Lord and was always able to find a Church of Christ to call home for 48 years. She was a faithful prayer warrior and trusted in her eternal salvation. In her spare time, she was an avid hunter, fisherman, reader, and anything outdoors. She prided herself in a clean house, clean car, and organization; something that she instilled in her girls.

Her best friend in the whole world was Donnie. You never saw one without the other, and they devoted their lives to each other. They supported, loved, and relied on one another, and this is a true testament to what a marriage should be. Her girls were lucky to witness this beauty their entire lives.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Donnie Puckett; daughters and sons-in-law, Mandy and Jeff Cordova, and Winter and Rusty Skinner; grandchildren, Macey, Matt, Bryce, Braxton, Langston, Rylie, and Knox; great-grandchildren, Lavery and Tinsley; mother, Ada Smithhart; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Kelly Smithhart; sister, Kim McClelland; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Howard Smithhart.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Cordova, Rusty Skinner, Bryce Cordova, Braxton Oliver, Matthew Wallace, and Martin Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Finch, Billy Patton, Randy Smithhart, Larry Williford, Danny Anders, and Trae Trevathan.
