Mr. Cummings was born March 18, 1947 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Doris Elizabeth (McCommas) and Jim J. Cummings, and died Tuesday, December 30, 2025 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Cummings lived a life defined not by loud words, but by steady love, faith, and presence. His story is inseparable from the love of his life, Glenda Kay Cummings. Their lives unfolded side by side from a very young age. They grew old together, loved each other completely and were married faithfully for 56 years. They spent nearly their entire lives in the same small house, a home filled with prayer, home-cooked meals, shared memories, and quiet, enduring devotion.

Those who knew them best never heard them argue. They lived their entire married life without ever choosing to be apart for more than a few days. Even in their final weeks, their love continued to grow. Even before they were in a nursing home together, they made short videos for one another, staying connected from the nursing home to the hospital room until they were able to share a room at the nursing home. Their bond never weakened; it only deepened.

Glenn was a man of few words, but his life spoke volumes. He was hardworking, faithful, and simple in the very best way. He worked at Lufkin Industries for nearly forty years, providing steadily for his family through dedication, grit, and an unwavering work ethic. His strength showed not in complaint, but in consistency, day after day, year after year. Despite leaving for work before the children rose, and often getting home even after they were asleep, they never felt his presence was missing in their lives. When there was a baseball game, a recital, or any important event, he always showed up.

He loved the Lord and lived his faith quietly and faithfully. Glenn served for many years as a deacon at Union Road Church of Christ, a role he carried with humility and devotion. On Sunday mornings, he rose early, already dressed in his nicest shirt and tie, sitting patiently in the living room, ready for church.

He found joy in simple pleasures, watching westerns, following car races, and enjoying music of all kinds, old and new. Dirt track racing held a special place in his heart. He rarely missed an opportunity to attend, often turning an ordinary Saturday into a full day of adventure that included long drives, waiting patiently for the races to begin, and sometimes even sleeping in the car just to be there. Trips to events like the Chili Bowl in Tulsa every January with his son, Richard were cherished traditions, built around time together and shared excitement.

Glenn loved being a Pawpaw. His armchair recliner always held candy hidden in the arm compartment, generously shared with grandchildren who knew exactly where to find it. He had a soft spot for animals as well, especially the strays that seemed to find him. They never left hungry, and once they found Glenn, they were well cared for; a quiet kindness that said everything about who he was. He also carried a lifelong fondness of elephants and their quiet strength.

He loved mowing the lawn and rarely limited himself to just his own yard. If there was grass to cut, Glenn was happy to help, his own, the neighbors’, or anyone else’s. He welcomed friends as family and treated them as such.

In the early mornings, before the day fully began, Glenn could often be found awake, coffee in hand, enjoying the stillness. That quiet presence - steady, dependable, and warm is how so many will remember him.

He lived a life of faith, loyalty, and hard work. His legacy is not found in grand gestures, but in a lifetime of showing up, caring deeply, and loving one woman, and one family, with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, always.
