Vonnie Adelle "Meme" Kennerly Martin

Funeral services for Vonnie Adelle “MeMe” Kennerly Martin, 87, of Huntington will be held Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with interment following the services. Brother Elton Musick will officiate.

Ms. Martin was born February 28, 1930 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Ada Lucille (Moore) and Loye G. Kennerly, and died Thursday, June 15, 2017 in a local hospital.

Ms. Martin retired from the Food Service Department at Central ISD in 2004. She loved being with the children in the school cafeteria, where she was known as MeMe, and she made sure everyone had food. Ms. Martin was the caregiver for all her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Donny Musick of Huntington and Toni and Neal Warner of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Loye Eugene and Vicki Martin of Lufkin; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren on the way; and sister, Nan Ray Turner of Baytown.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Jason Hendry, Cullen Havard, Jeremy Jordan, Jonathan Jordan, Chase Martin and Chad Martin.

Honorary pallbearer will be Steven Roy.

The family extends special thanks for the loving care given by the staff of Huntington Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the services.
