Funeral services for Vollie E. Futch, 92, of Lufkin will be held Monday, April 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Lancewood Baptist Church with Brother Fred Smith and Brother James Wagstaff officiating. A private family burial will be held in the Simpson Cemetery.
Mr. Futch was born July 16, 1931 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Margaret Thelma (Anderson) and Vollie Edward Futch, Sr., and died Thursday, April 4, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Futch was a lifelong resident of Lufkin and owned and operated Uneeda Ice Company. He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army Airborne division during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed traveling and riding motorcycles with his wife, Mozelle. They also served alongside each other with the Master Builders Ministry, going to various places, helping to build churches. He was a faithful member at Lancewood Baptist Church. Mr. Futch was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he also loved his church family.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Mozelle Futch of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gene Sullivan, Wanda Futch, Lisa Johnson and Norman Poteet, all of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian Edward and Lorrie Futch of Monticello, Arkansas, Alan Keith and Elizabeth Futch of Lufkin; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Curtis Wise of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nelda Lorraine Bothwell; grandson, Arik Wooten; granddaughter, Shanda Wooten Pierce; sister, Sue Thomas; and brothers, James Futch and Jackie Futch.
Pallbearers will be Josh Westbrook, Jeremy Westbrook, Troy Wise, Terry Wise, Seth O’Quinn, and Gene Sullivan.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday morning prior to the service.
