Virginia Lee (Wallace) Duncan

Funeral services for Virginia Lee (Wallace) Duncan, 85, of Corrigan will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Corrigan Chapel with Norman Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery.

Ms. Duncan was born August 20, 1939 in Barnum, Texas to the late Eunice (Barclay) Wallace and Melvin E. Wallace, and died Saturday, January 25, 2025 in Barnum, Texas.

Ms. Duncan grew up on her parent’s farm in Barnum, which she loved. She graduated from Chester where she made lifelong friends. She was mother to Carla and Robert while her husband (Carlos) was in the AirForce. She had fond memories of when they were stationed at Richards-Gebaur AirForce Base in Kansas City, Missouri and in Strasbourg, France where Carla was born and at Eglin AirForce Base near Fort Walton Beach, Florida for 10 years. Ms. Duncan worked at Livingston Saving and Loan and at Jasper Federal before joining and retiring from Polk County Appraisal District. She enjoyed working outside on her parent’s old farm, doing yard work and babying her dog “Happy” who brought immense enjoyment to her.

Survivors include son, Robert Duncan; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Milton Purvis; grandchildren, Joshua Duncan, Byrd and Jay Purvis; great-grandchildren, J.T. and Grady Duncan; Nephew, David Ray and wife LaDonna; nieces, Debbie Lee, Cheryl and Charlotte Wallace; special relatives, Raymond and Pat Wallace, Gracy Jean Martin, Christine and Butch Bertin, and Patricia and Robert Proft.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gwen Ray; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Wallace and Burleson Wallace.

Pallbearers will be Byrd Purvis, Jay Purvis, Milt Purvis, Josh Duncan, David Ray and Ray McKnight.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
