Virginia Rosemary Serafino Geraci

Memorial services for Virginia Rosemary Serafino Geraci, 79, of Lufkin will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Deacon Gary Trevino officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Christian Burial of the cremains will be held at a later date.

Rosemary was born November 16, 1937 in Beaumont, Texas, the only child of Virginia Vashti (Howard) and Frank Richard Serafino. She passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at her residence.

Rosemary attended St. Anthony Schools, graduating second in her high school class. She was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a BAAS degree in Hearing Aid Marketing.

In 1963 she, her husband Joe, and their baby daughter Mary moved to Lufkin, where Joe established the Beltone Hearing Aid Service. Rosemary was co-owner and then president of the family business corporation. A member of the International Hearing Instrument Society, she was board certified, as well as a certified Audioprosthologist. In 2003 Rosemary was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to a six-year term on the State Committee of Examiners in the Fitting and Dispensing of Hearing Instruments and a member of the Texas Hearing Aid Association for many years.

During her years with Beltone, Rosemary and her husband were co-recipients of two Regional Awards of Merit, and the first recipients of the Golden Pacesetter Award. When the family business changed affiliation from Beltone to Audibel, Mr. and Rosemary were the third and fourth inductees into the prestigious Audibel Hall of Fame.

Rosemary attended St. Patrick Catholic Church for many years. She and her husband were founding members of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, where she served as a Minister of the Eucharist and was a member of the Ladies Guild.

In her younger years, Rosemary was very active in the National Council of Catholic Women, serving as president of the Ladies of LaSalette at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Deanery president, and Diocesean secretary. She was also a delegate to the first National Council of Catholic Laity Convention.

Rosemary’s interests included gardening (especially growing orchids) and playing golf, but most of all traveling with her husband. She was a past president of the Pine Tree Garden Club and a member of the Crown Colony Senior Ladies Golf Association.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Joseph Anthony Geraci of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Virginia and Scott Simpson of Livingston; son, Richard Charles Geraci of Lufkin; grandchildren, Tyler Scott Simpson and wife Sandy of Latexo, Curtis Clark Simpson of Livingston, Sarrah Cleora Geraci of College Station, and Shelby Virginia Geraci of Lufkin; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Simpson, Barett Simpson, both of Latexo, and Kylyn Simpson of Livingston.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Frank, Bobby Frank, Paul Mayberry, Ronnie Robinson, Hugh Anderson, Garland Picou, Andy Duprè, and Billy Frank.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 1611 Feagin Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904, or to a favorite charity.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday morning at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.
