Virginia Spurgeon Cook

January 3, 1925 — July 21, 2022

Graveside services with inurnment for Virginia Spurgeon Cook, 97, will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile with Glen Morton officiating.

Mrs. Cook was born January 3, 1925 in Etoile to the late James and Rosa Lee Spurgeon, and passed away peacefully at her home at the Veranda Assisted Living facility in Uvalde, Texas on Thursday, July 21, 2022. On December 22, 1945, she married G. Howard Cook, also of Nacogdoches County.

Survivors include her daughter, Gay Stone and husband, Terry of Concan, Texas; three grandchildren, Chris Brandt and wife Jenny of White Oak, Adrienee Sweaney and husband Adam of Midlothian, Travis Stone and wife Cho of Dallas; three great-grandchildren, two siblings, Betty Porter of Nacogdoches, Darius Spurgeon of Fort Worth; and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, G. Howard Cook; daughter, Carolyn Jo Brandt; son-in-law, Larry Brandt; and seven siblings.
