Virgil Wayne Neal

Funeral services for Virgil Wayne Neal, 79, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Brother Adrian Neal officiating. Interment will follow the services.

Mr. Neal was born November 2, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas to Avanell (McGilberry) and V.L. Neal, and died Thursday, November 16, 2023 at his residence.

Wayne was a lifelong resident of Lufkin. He worked in the cable business for 50 years and retired as a manager. He was a member of Riverside Church in Hemphill.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Georgia Neal of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Adrian  and Tracy Neal of Huntington, Jerod and Kristin Pheonix of Springfield, Missouri; daughters, Jana Benedict of Kingsport, Tennessee, Julie Neal of Krum, Texas; stepdaughter, Leticia Torres of Houston; 14 grandchildren; mother, Avanell Neal of Garrison; sister, Linda Hancock of Timpson; brother, Joe Bob Neal of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, V.L. Neal; brother, Leon Neal; and sister, Brenda Neal McKnight.
