Vernon Carrell

Memorial services with military honors for Vernon Carrell, 92, of Huntington will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with his brother, Calvin Carrell officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Vernon was born January 1, 1931 in Huntington, Texas to the late Opal Lee (Arnold) and William Albert Carrell, and died Friday, August 11, 2023 at his residence.

Vernon proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a Machinist for Cameron Iron Works.

Survivors include his sons, Janet and Tim Bussart, Troy and Roberta Carrell; grandchildren and their spouses, Sharla  and Jose Gonzales, Tamera and David Tanner, Billy McGaha, Cory and Ariel Bussart, Cody and Vanessa Bussart, Michael and Erica Kent, Alisha and Jacob Young, Travis and Tori Carrell, Taylor Carrell; brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Susan Carrell; brother-in-law, David Schroeder; special friend, Jackie Arnold; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 42 years, Shirley Carrell; daughter, Iris Worthy; grandson, Tim McGaha; and siblings and their spouses, Gene and Martha Carrell, Earl and Edith Carrell, Burl Carrell, Delton Carrell, and Judy Carrell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cory Bussart, Cody Bussart, Travis Carrell, and Taylor Carrell.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Pavan Pinnamaneni, Nurse Maria Nerren, Mel Mays, and the staff of Harbor Hospice for their loving care.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the service.
