Vernell Mccollum Sweet

Vernell McCollum Sweet, 79, of Diboll died Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at her residence. Private family graveside services will be held in Ryan Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Sweet was born October 21, 1944 in Diboll, Texas to the late Thelma Odessa (Burns) and Henry McCollum and was a lifetime resident of Diboll. She loved reading, especially British mystery series, listening to classical music, and planting flowers. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Katharine Sweet and Roy Daniel of Diboll, and Kelly and Todd Morris of Nacogdoches; sons and daughter-in-law, Brian Ray and Sherri Sweet of Huntsville, and Gregory Sweet of Houston; grandchildren, Michael Lynn Toole, Seth Morris, Sydney Morris, Gabriel Sweet, and McKayla Sweet; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Sweet, Sr.; son, Robert Sweet, Jr.; brothers, Jr. McCollum, Billy McCollum, Elmo McCollum, and James McCollum; and sisters, Dessie Langston and Ardell Holeman.
