Verna Faye Denman Franklin

Funeral services for Verna Faye Denman Franklin, 79, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor D.R. McNaughton officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Franklin was born July 17, 1938 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Jessie (Quarles) and Gaines Alva Hopson, and died Saturday, October 14, 2017 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Franklin had resided in Lufkin most of her life. She retired after 23 years of service as the Court Clerk for Angelina County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed travelling and spending time with her daughters. Mrs. Franklin was an active member of Harborlight Church. Her church family was very dear to her and it meant the world to her that they were always there for her.

Survivors include her daughters, Melba Ward and husband Lewis of Livingston and Gaila Collins and husband Floyd of Pollok; grandsons, Chad Ward and wife Melissa and Kevin Ward and wife Amy, all of Livingston; grandchildren, Justin Collins, Josh Collins, Jason Thacker and wife Malisa, Tifanie Parry, and Katrina Smith; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Stanley of Lufkin; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Arthur Lee Denman on July 6, 2002.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandson.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
