Vera Lee Clark Mcgaughey

Funeral services for Vera Lee Clark McGaughey, 96, of Huntington will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Lamar Denby and Brother John Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.

Vera was born February 14, 1928 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Henry Otis and Bertha Macie (Arnold) Clark, and died Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Huntington Healthcare & Rehabilitation and with Harbor Hospice.

Vera enjoyed children and kept many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and neighbors. She spoiled them with her tea cakes, caramel coated popcorn, and other great food. She loved her family and loved sitting and talking with them with a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. She loved playing 42 and other games with the sisters and neighbors. She loved sewing, making quilts, shelling peas, and long walks in the pasture or down the road beside her house. Vera was a member of Highway Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Malcom and Susie McGaughey of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Jason and Amber McGaughey of Huntington, Jennifer and James Henderson of Lufkin, Ryan and Shannon Largent, Patrick and Leigh Anne Largent, all of Hudson, and Melissa Patterson of Lufkin; great-grandchildren and spouses, Justin and Katie Largent, Jacob and Laura Largent, Michael and Katelyn Brazile, Brandon and Destini Brazile, Skye and Peyton Williams, Colton and Shelby McGaughey, Erica and Steven Richardson, Matthew McGaughey, Shelby Jacob, Dakota Largent, Jackson Largent, William Cooper Largent, Anna Denby, MorniSue McGaughey, and Shayne Wilkins; great-great-grandchildren, Emrie, Wyatt, Willow, Dalton, Byntlee, Cason, Rowen, and Declan Brazile, James Largent, Gattlyn, Iris, and Oscar Williams, Rayleigh and Maverick Richardson; sister, Polly White; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Linda Clark; and sisters-in-law, Marjorie Clark and Patsy Clark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delton McGaughey; daughter, Joan Largent; grandson, Kenny McGaughey; grandson-in-law, Mark Patterson; and brothers and sisters, Aaron, Mildred, Gracie, Paul, George, Otis “Gene”, and Betty.

Pallbearers will be the great-grandchildren.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
