Velma Faye Rash

Graveside services for Velma Faye Rash, 95, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sand Flat Cemetery.

Mrs. Rash was born November 1, 1928 in Enoch, Texas to the late Leona J. (Davis) and James Raymond Carnley, and died Friday, November 17, 2023 in a local nursing home.

Velma had resided in Wells for 25 years, prior to moving to Lufkin, and had worked at Lufkin State School. She enjoyed reading romance novels in her spare time. Velma loved her Lord and was a member of Grace Tabernacle in Fairview.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Robyn Moore Martin and husband Randy; grandson, Christopher Moore and wife Tracy; great-grandchildren and spouses, Destini Moore, Casidi Moore Boyd and Mya, Britani Moore LeBlanc and Zak, Sara Martin, Josh Martin; great-great-grandsons, Zaine LeBlanc, Brinn LeBlanc; brothers, Jimmy Carnley, Leo Carnley and wife Gwen, sisters, Margaret Glover, Carolyn Welch; special niece, Dorothy Morgan; along with numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph L. Rash; sons, Ralph Rash, Wayne Rash; daughter, Betty Jean Rash Moore Pigg; brothers, James Albert Carnley, Jack Amandor Carnley; and sisters, Thelma Wingate, Joyce Warner, and Era Kornegay.
