Van Welton Gay

Visitation for Van Welton Gay, 62, of Huntington will be held Monday, November 9, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin. Cremation will follow under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Van was born April 13, 1964 in Houston, Texas to the late Billie Adess (McGee) and Andrew James Gay, and died Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at his residence. He was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. Van played softball for many years, then became an avid golfer. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa (Holst) Gay of Huntington; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Holst and Megan Reed of Lufkin, and Van Halen Gay and Vesper Vayda of Huntington; daughters and son-in-law, Nikki and Jeffery Bounds of Diboll, and Cassie Gay and Kellie Gray of Hudson; grandchildren, Ashlynn Bounds, Madilynn Bounds, Zachery Bounds, Makenzie Holst, Jacob McCreary, Alice Gay, and Braiden Plemons; brothers and sister-in-law, Roger and Belinda Gay of Hemphill, Douglas Gay of Splendora, and Danny and Michelle Gay of Salem, West Virginia; sister and brother-in-law, Karen (Gay) and Kevin Doolin of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
