Memorial services for Tonya Sue Russell Brown, 56, of Huntington will be held Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington with John Stanbery officiating, with a reception following in the fellowship hall.
Tonya was born April 21, 1969 in Houston, Texas and passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025 in Lufkin, Texas following a long battle with cancer.
Tonya was a member of the 1987 graduating class of Huntington High School. She was certified as a Nurse’s Aide and served as a Pharmacy Technician. She was a caring and devoted friend who was always willing to lend a hand and cherished babies and animals. Tonya loved her coffee, Sonic Cokes (easy on the ice), and the Houston Astros. She was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her brothers, Billy Jack Russell and wife, Connie of Huntington, Robert Whitaker and Allen Whitaker, both of Chester; sisters, Faye Whitaker of Lufkin, Darla Homniok and husband Butch of Village Mills, Holly Stanbery and husband John of Huntington; stepmother, Marilyn Russell; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Patsy Hardy Griffith of Lufkin and Jack Wade Russell of Chester.
