Todd Hampton Barrett, 45, of Lufkin, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Kevin Poage officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Born on September 16, 1979 in Lufkin, Todd was the beloved son of Charlotte (Brown) and Ned Hampton Barrett. As a lifelong resident of Lufkin, he proudly owned and operated Barrett Trucking, dedicating his life to hard work and providing for his family.
Todd had a passion for adventure and loved anything with an engine. He found his greatest joy in the roar of a motorcycle and the thrill of dirt track racing. His bond with his brother, Jeff, was built on countless rides together and a shared love of mechanics. Todd had a gift of working with his hands—whether fixing, building, or restoring, he could bring almost anything back to life.
In addition to his love of machines, Todd’s heart was deeply devoted to his family. He found immense joy in spending time with his brother Jeff, whether tinkering with motorcycles, riding together, or simply talking shop—he always made time to create those special memories. Equally cherished were the moments spent with his dad, Ned, racing cars and enjoying dirt track racing. Todd loved the thrill of competing alongside his father. The bond they shared over the years was built on a foundation of love, respect, and a shared passion for the thrill of the ride. These moments shaped who Todd was and brought him immeasurable happiness.
Todd was also deeply grateful for his girlfriend Kim, who lovingly cared for him throughout his battle with cancer, providing comfort and unwavering support during his toughest moments. He was especially thankful for his mother, Charlotte, whose constant presence in his life never wavered—she never missed a game when he was young, nor a race when he was older. He adored everything she cooked, cherishing those special meals they shared together. Her love and support were constants in his life. Above all, his daughter Kylie was his most cherished gift—his greatest joy and the light of his life. She embodied the love and purpose that filled his heart. Whether working on projects, sharing laughter, or simply enjoying the outdoors, his greatest joy was being surrounded by those he loved most. He took great pride in the memories they created together.
Todd leaves behind his devoted parents, Ned and Charlotte Barrett of Lufkin; his cherished daughter, Kylie “Bri” Fountain, and her fiancé, Mitchel Schlichting of Houston; his beloved brother, Jeff Barrett, and loving wife Becky of Lufkin; nephew, Jake Barrett of Lufkin; niece, Cate Barrett of Lufkin; girlfriend, Kim Baxter of Lufkin; uncles, Jim Barrett and wife Kathy, Bill Barrett and wife Suzanne, all of Lufkin; aunt, Charlene Schnitzius and husband Dan of Allen; numerous other relatives and many dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claud and Ruth Brown and Dr. Ned Barrett, Jr., and Wydette Barrett.
