Thomas Michael "Tom" Tiemann

Thomas Michael “Tom” Tiemann, 77, of Lufkin, Texas, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024, at a local hospice facility surrounded by loved ones. He was born on January 17, 1947, in Keokuk, Iowa.

Tom served in the United States Army. He retired as a Texas Correctional Officer, living most of his life in Lufkin, formally living in Ft. Madison, Iowa and Warsaw, Illinois. Tom enjoyed the beach, tinkering at his workbench, attending gun shows, grilling/cooking chili, movies, spending time with his family, and especially watching his grandkids take his golf cart for a spin.

Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Gerveler Tiemann; his loving sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Ginia “G.G.” Tiemann of Lufkin, Brad and Patti Tiemann of Flint, and Darin and Jada Tiemann of Lufkin; his cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Cheyenne Tiemann of Lufkin, Alec Tiemann of Houston, Brittany Tiemann of Galveston, Allison and Cody Bowman of Arnold, Missouri, LoriAnne and Evan Horner of Nacogdoches, Ben Tiemann of Flint, Max, Drake, and Conrad Tiemann of Lufkin; his adored great-grandson, Asher Tiemann of Lufkin; and his step-grandchildren, Jake and Rachel Martinez of Denver and Jarret Raley of San Antonio.

He is also survived by his brother, William “Bill” and Sue Tiemann of Kerrville; his sisters, Ruth Rose of Keokuk, Iowa and Theresa and Buck Cameron of Hamilton, Illinois; his brothers-in-law, Duane Cloud of Jacksonville, Florida, Tom and Billie Jean Gerveler of Nashville, Tennessee, Bryan Winke of San Diego, California; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Bertha Tiemann; brothers, Bud and Richard “Dick” Tiemann; and sisters, Charlotte Betts, Shirley Glover, and Carrie Cloud.

Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren, Jacob, Alec, Brittany, Allison, LoriAnne, Ben, Max, Drake, Conrad, and great grandson, Asher.

A memorial visitation from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3:30 p.m., will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
