Thomas Ervin "Peanut" Jones

Funeral services for Thomas Ervin “Peanut” Jones, 84, of Huntington will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Dean Madden and Brother Louie Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in the Herrington Cemetery in Huntington.

Mr. Jones was born January 26, 1934 in San Augustine County, Texas to the late Ruby Bell (Graham) and Curtis Ervin Jones, and died Monday, April 2, 2018 in a local hospital.

Mr. Jones had resided in Angelina County most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, the U.S. Army Reserves from 1958 to 1963, and retired from Champion International Paper Mill. Mr. Jones often spoke of his days in the Army. He was a rancher and farmer, and enjoyed fishing and visiting with friends and family. Mr. Jones was a member of Fuller Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Bobbie (Hines) Jones of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Jeff Davis of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Kelvin and Lesia Jones of Huntington; grandsons, Kyle Murray of Hudson and Justin Jones and wife Casey of Huntington; granddaughters, Amy Murray of Vidor and Chelsea Lindsey and husband Garret of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Gavin Havard, Devyn Murray, both of Hudson, Mason Jones of Huntington, Madisyn Murray of Hudson, Memphis Lindsey and Journie Lindsey, both of Huntington; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Hessie and Marvin Jordan; sisters-in-law, Gladys Forrest and Joyce Richardson; brother-in-law, Robert Richardson, nephew, Dennis Jordan; and parents-in-law, Robert and Hester Hines.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Murray, Justin Jones, Gavin Havard, Garret Lindsey, Herbert Jordan, and Bobby Hines.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
