Thelma Laura (Wuest) Roberson

Funeral services for Thelma Laura (Wuest) Roberson, 100, of Lufkin were held Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church of Lufkin with Reverend Kenneth Bunge officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Thelma was born May 25, 1926 in Fashing, Texas to the late Nora Frenzel Wuest and Werner Otto Wuest, and died Friday, August 21, 2026 in Lufkin at the Lottie Temple Home at PineCrest Retirement Community.

After high school Thelma went to business school and worked as a bookkeeper in San Antonio where she met the love of her life, Roy L. Roberson. She and Roy were married for 42 years at the time of his passing. They moved to Lufkin in 1955 and operated Lufkin Filter Service for 32 years until son, Wayne, took over. After arriving in Lufkin, Thelma was confirmed into the Lutheran Church where she remained a steadfast and active member until her health prevented otherwise.

Survivors include her sons, Roy Roberson, Jr. and wife Joyce of Greenwood, Arkansas, Steve Roberson and husband Lamont Richie of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Wayne Roberson and wife Angela of Lufkin, Mark Roberson of Vernon; her two grandchildren whom she loved very much, Christopher Roberson and fiancée Cari Rice of Bryan, Stephanie Roberson and partner Kiersten Barnard of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Curtis R. Roberson; one brother; and all three sisters.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning prior to the service at the church.
