Thelma A. Houston

Funeral services for Thelma A. Houston, 81, of Diboll will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother D.R. McNaughton officiating. Interment will follow in Old Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Houston was born November 4, 1941 in Houston, Texas to the late Milver J. (Glass) and Peyton Wood Scarborough, and died Thursday, July 20, 2023 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Houston loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren fiercely. She enjoyed her special vacations with family, fishing where her favorite phrase was “here kitty, kitty” while sitting on her favorite catfish hole, and playing dominos or any other games. Mrs. Houston retired from Diboll ISD where she served as Manager of the Jr. High Cafeteria for many years.

Survivors include her son, John “Woody” Houston and wife Kelly of Diboll; daughter, Deena Houston and Clarence Bass of Diboll; grandchildren, Malinda Rios and husband Clancey, LeAnne Houston and Patrick Brown, Cameron Houston, Josh Windsor, Curtis Windsor, Jr., Blake Bass, and Carol Colton; great-grandchildren, AnnaBella and Mallory Rios, Luke Colton, Cami and DeCarlo Windsor; sisters, Linda Sue Mills and husband Buddy and Mary Thompson, all of Lufkin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace O. Houston; beloved daughter, Betty Kay Windsor; brother, Larry Scarborough; and sister, Paytria LaMar.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Thompson, Keith LaMar, Dustin LaMar, Clarence Bass, Terry Mason, and Clancey Rios.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Chumley, Bruce Chumley, Curtis Windsor, Sr., Curtis Windsor, Jr., and Blake Bass.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
