Terry Mack Carnes

May 18, 1942 — December 29, 2025

Lufkin, TX

Mack Carnes went peacefully to be with the Lord Monday morning, December 29, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. He was born May 18,1942 in Brownsboro, Texas to the late Otis Kelly and Flossie Carnes. After the loss of his mother at a young age, he was raised by his father and bonus mom Gladys Carnes. A memorial service will be held at PineCrest Chapel.

Mack graduated from John Tyler High School and eloped with his high school sweetheart Marie Lynch on January 13, 1961; they celebrated 54 years of marriage. The two of them started their family in Tyler, Texas where he also began his career in sales; he started with shoes and later automobiles, which brought the family to Lufkin. After many years in used car sales, he went to Auctioneer School in Missouri and began his life dream of auctioneering. Mack was a "fast and sweet talker" and he loved getting to know his clients and customers and could sell anything and everything you can imagine.

He loved his family, friends, church and profession. He worked together with his wife and dear friends Jim Bob Lindsey and Chilo Rodriquez in his auction business, enjoyed renting his building for various celebrations and he also volunteered with several charitable organizations. His favorite client was country singer Reba McEntire.

Before he became ill, he was an active member of FUMC Musslewhite Sunday School class and loved teaching Sunday school for different groups, and serving as a Sunday morning greeter and usher. Mack was a member of the local Round Table and loved fishing, boating and telling a good joke.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Brigettee and Trey Henderson of Lufkin, Lisa and Kevin Grimes of Lufkin, Coty and Kim Carnes of Bullard; his grandchildren, Hall and Rebecca Henderson, Hudson Henderson, Laken and Allison Grimes, Caleb Grimes, Marley Grimes and fiancé Andy Strong, Caitlyn and Brett Tidwell, and Kinsie Carnes; and great-grandchildren, George, Charles and Jack Henderson, Oakley and Lorilei Grimes, Abigail, Mia and Millie Tidwell; sister, Betty Kate Huggins; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Mack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Oleta Marie Lynch Carnes; brothers, Kelly Jo Carnes; sisters and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Bud Adams, and Carol Cope.
